Wood Design Teaching Resources Enable Rapid Integration

Reducing the burden of faculty preparation is critical to scaling wood education in architecture programs. However, existing teaching material has been fragmented and inconsistent, creating barriers to adoption.

To address this gap, SLB Education partnered with academic and industry experts to develop a ready-to-teach mass timber pedagogy package, hosted by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture and reaching a network of over 30,000 educators. The package is designed to integrate seamlessly into studios, structures, and technical coursework with minimal friction.

The resource includes lecture-ready modules, case studies, and applied design exercises that support both foundational learning and real-world application. Since launch on ACSA’s portal, the Mass Timber Pedagogy resources have generated 1,810 downloads, demonstrating strong early interest from architecture educators and complementing SLB Education’s faculty workshops by establishing a scalable path for expanding wood integration across architecture programs.
