Protected engineering confidence through updated structural standards
The AWC continues the work of updating two cornerstone wood design standards—the Special Design Provisions for Wind & Seismic (SDPWS) and the Permanent Wood Foundation (PWF) Design Specification. Engineers, regulators, and code bodies rely on these performance-based standards for safe and economical structural design. Keeping them current reduces uncertainty and reinforces wood’s credibility in seismic, wind, and foundation applications.
Furthermore, ANSI reaccreditation reaffirmed the AWC’s authority as an accredited standards developer and validated its rigorous, consensus-based process. Updated SDPWS and PWF standards remain on track for reference in the 2027 I-Codes.
